Here are 7 plots currently on the market in the county.

1. Hawkshead Road - Brookmans Park

On the market for £1.49 million, this empty plot provides six acres of land that could be used for development.

2. Aston Lane - Stevenage

This 1.1 acre site, with a guide price of £1.8 million, sits next to Stevenage FC's training ground and already has planning permission for new homes.

3. Townsend Drive - St Albans

For £2 million, you can own a plot of land that has planning permission for a stunning new home.

"This is a rare opportunity to acquire a site with full planning permission to build a detached family home, enjoying approximately 5,600sqft of living space, located in one of the city's most sought after prime residential locations," say listing agents Bradford & Howley.

4. Hopton Road - Stevenage

Land between 146 and 225 Hopton Road in Stevenage will go up for auction, with a guide price of £30,000, on May 8.

There is expected to be plenty of interest in the site, which has planning permission for a detached three-bedroom home with associated car parking.

5. Peartree Farm Industrial Estate - Welwyn Garden City

On the market for £250,000, the site in Peartree Farm Industrial Estate already has planning permission for a two-storey building, according to listing agent Davies & Co.

"The site forms a small, freehold plot of land adjoining the eastern entrance to the Peartree Farm development," the listing reads.

"It currently has a hard surface for car parking purposes and a small timber building which was used only for storage.

"There is planning permission for the construction of a two-storey building. It is extremely rare to find a freehold plot of land, with full planning permission, available for purchase of this nature."

6. Folly Lane - St Ippolyts

This 0.92-acre site in St Ippolyts is currently on the market, but time is running out to make an offer, with a May 3 deadline in place.

"The sale provides an opportunity to purchase land with potential for development, subject to any necessary planning consents," according listing agents Bidwells.

The land is currently grass and is adjacent to an existing residential property and amenity land.

7. Hazelbury Farm - Hitchin

One plot of land you can rent rather than buy is Hazelbury Farm in Hitchin.

The 98,500sqft site in Bedford Road is on the market for £12,320 per month, and was previously used by the current owners as part of their fencing business.

Now it could be yours, and there is plenty you could do with it.
