Retirees who are eager to explore new skills and interests are invited to join the Melbourn and District u3a group.

The University of the Third Age - known as u3a - has more than 430,000 members nationwide, who join together to learn.

The Melbourn and District group has around 400 members from all over South Cambs and North Herts, with more than 30 smaller groups ranging from yoga, walks, music, art and local history.

These aim to be informal and self-supporting, with a lot of learning but no exams.

To mark the start of the new year, the group has published a programme of speaker events for 2023 - ranging from talks on Save the Children founder Eglantyne Jebb to the history of the American cemetery at nearby Madingley.

A general meeting with a guest speaker is held at 2.45pm on the third Wednesday of each month, at the Eternit Social Club in Meldreth. Guests are welcome and new members can join.

Chair Andrea Burton said: "The variety of opportunities to learn from each other and to continue with personal interests is immense. We look forward to meeting anyone interested in joining and sharing their skills."
