The Royston First Halloween Trail returned this year during autumn half term.

Children and their parents and carers were eager to help save Royston from the wicked witches by hunting for magical potions in the shop windows of businesses - before it was overrun by mystical creatures.

Children from Royston and the nearby villages took part, submitting over 500 entries, more than double compared to the previous year!

The trail was designed to bring the community together, encourage footfall into town and provide families with a fun activity during Halloween.

A £120 voucher for the Royston Cave and a cauldron of sweet treats were up for grabs and were won by five-year-old Miya Stemp and her eight-year-old sister Khloe.

Both were very excited by the winner’s prize of a cauldron of sweeties and said this was the first time either of them had won anything.

Miya and Khloe's dad James said: “The children really enjoyed taking part in the trail, we weren’t sure whether we would get a chance to do it but we are so happy we did! The girls can’t wait for the Christmas Trail now.”

A Royston First spokesperson said: "Thank you to all the wonderful Royston businesses who joined in with and supported the Trail and brought so much fun to the town.

"The Christmas Elf Trail is next and will run between November 26 and December.

"Check the @Roystonfirst Facebook and Instagram for more information. We look forward to seeing you all at the next trail"
