A £1,000 reward has been posted for any information that will help convict burglars who raided a Royston home.

The masked criminals helped themselves to jewellery worth thousands of pounds after breaking in to an isolated house shortly after 10.15pm on, April 1.

Among their haul were military medals, including one from 1941, and a 1922 gold pocket watch with an enamel face engraved with “EPP” in Gothic script.

Other distinctive items include a chunky silver necklace made by a Thailand hill tribe, a Cherbellin ladies watch, a collection of antique and 1930s silver including seven Georgian snuff boxes, a Victorian gold sovereign, and a gold Vesta matchbox for wax matches

Detective Constable Colin Troll, investigating, said: “Many of the stolen items are very distinctive and were of huge sentimental value to the victims.

“I would urge anyone who has any information about who is responsible, or has been offered the items for sale, to call police.”

The payment of the reward is subject to information being received before June 8 and the validity of any claim will be determined by the victim of the burglary in conjunction with police.

Anyone with any information should call DC Troll on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
