THE Knebworth Panthers travelled away to Fairlands Youth on Sunday afternoon and made the best possible start scoring from their first attack.

From the kick off Michael ran through the Fairlands' defence and passed the ball to Angus who had his first shot saved but followed up well to score.

Fairlands then woke up, and with two men assigned to mark Casey, it became very difficult to get the ball through the centre, but with Jack out wide sending the ball Knebworth kept the Fairlands goalkeeper busy.

A long ball from the Fairlands 'keeper found the three strikers and with a break in Knebworth's back line Fairlands levelled.

Knebworth continued to pressure, and the play was end to end. Some steady saves from Sam settled the game down and with the ball on the floor Michael and Patrick fed the ball through to the strikers.

Following one of Grant's amazing long throws across the Fairland's box Angus somehow flicked the ball into the goal.

The second half started at a rapid pace, the fresh legs of Lewis made a difference on the right wing, taking the ball at speed and delivering good crosses.

Some opportunities were missed but it was not long before a ball found Casey who walked the ball into the goal having side-stepped the keeper.

With Fairlands undefeated they put pressure on Knebworth's back four but Jaz calmly passed the ball round, for Grant and Jordan to clear, always in the knowledge that top keeper Sam was there to stop any shots.

The Panthers saw out the second half thanks to a big team effort securing the three points that see them remain top of the Royston Crow First Division.
