SAM Irish scored the only goal as Elsenham were crowned Division Two champions in a pulsating winner-takes-all contest against near neighbours BSCFC Town.

Elsenham scored what was to be the only goal of the game when Adam Mace's persistence saw him get the ball through to Irish, who struck a low shot across the 'keeper into the far corner.

Elsenham knew that an early goal in the second half would almost seal the title and came so close when Jarvis rose to send a header inches past the far post.

Stortford kept battling hard for a way through but the Elsenham back line proved impossible to break down.
