Melbourn Dynamos 2 Bishop's Stortford Rovers 1

Under-11s Division Three

MELBOURN maintained their 100 per cent record in a close game at Shepreth.

Both teams gave little away in the early encounters but it was Rovers who took the lead after eight minutes when a superb curling corner drifted into the goal.

Panthers' reply was instant but some timely interceptions kept the Melbourn attack at bay.

On 19 minutes the Rovers 'keeper made a fine save from Sam Potterill and three minutes later George Storey skipped past two defenders and rounded the keeper only to see another timely tackle block his goal bound shot.

The Melbourn midfield came out in determined mood at the start of the second half with Tommy Hollway always a threat down the Melbourn right and it was no surprise that he finished off a sweeping move on 35 minutes to make it 1-1.

Melbourn pushed forward from the restart and two minutes later Luke Eades was in the right place to tap home a deserved second goal for the Panthers after a loose ball fell kindly for him.

Despite never giving up, Rovers struggled to get past some resolute defending from man-of-the-match Ryan Lees and Lewis Chessum.

The Melbourn attack had three clear cut openings in the final few minutes but somehow failed to add to the score, Never the less a good all round team performance by all.
