Under-11s Division Two
A DETERMINED second half performance from Hormead Hares under-11s earned them a deserved 1-1 draw against a well organised Letchworth Garden City Whites team.
The first half saw a besieged Hares team forsake style and skill for a dogged Dunkirk performance and man-of-the-match Benji Wrigley was in spectacular form as he parried, caught and kicked almost everything thrown at him - and there was a lot.
Wrigley was only beaten by a magnificent header from a Letchworth corner as the visitors went in 1-0 up at the break.
The second half was a different story and Hormead started the second half with fire in their bellies.
The tackling, led by midfield general Jack Congrave, was determined; the defence, marshalled by Jake Stoten, was resolute; and the attack started to make an impression on what had otherwise been an untested Letchworth defence.
The goal, an own-goal, came from a Joseph de Souza corner.
The game ended in a deserved draw as Letchworth's technical superiority was successfully thwarted by Hares' unflagging spirit.
