Interesting vote for the Letchworth Town Council and The Heritage Foundation.

Town Council Vote = 2,995 to dissolve the Town Council,

                                  928 to keep

Elected Members to the Board for the Heritage Foundation = 2,503 to become democratic,

1,360 to leave as they are

It does not matter if you think that the Town council costs to much or if its a waste of time, the point that everyone has missed is that they were a voice that stood up to the plans / decisions regarding North Herts County Council and the Heritage Foundation keeping them both in check. Now that this voice is no longer with us who will monitor and argue the point with the North Herts County Council and the Heritage Foundation regarding plans for the Town Centre and the New Homes that are being looked at behind Eastern Way and other major changes that will be taking place in our beloved town. The residents of Letchworth have lost an important voice and have seemed to accept that they will agree to any changes that are made to our town without having a body that is willing to challenge these proposals.

The second point regarding the vote was the Election of the Board members for the Heritage Foundation.

Will the Heritage now listen to the people of Letchworth and understand the point that is trying to be made?

Does it take a vote to convince people of the feelings of the residents?

It will be interesting to see how the outcome of this vote will be received.

Will the Heritage Foundation allow their Board Members to consist of legally elected members by the residents of Letchworth or will business be as usual?

Very interesting times for Letchworth....................
